Wedding dress alterations & restyling

To transform this TK Maxx bargain dress into a unique, perfectly-fitted dream wedding dress.

Brief:

I remade the top to sit off-the-shoulder and added a net underskirt to give the skirt more volume. The chunky gold zip was replaced with buttons and loops and I made a sash which the bride requested was tied in a bow.

Solution:

To transform this dress from a TK Maxx bargain into a one-off, perfectly fitted dream wedding dress.

Amy wanted to shorten the hem to make it more practical for a beach wedding.

Brief:

I pinned the hem at the front to make it the perfect fit and we decided to remove a lot of the heavy train to make it more comfortable to walk.

To rectify the wobbly zip which doesn't sit flat down the back.

Brief:

The original zip was too heavy for the delicate lace which was causing it to bend. I removed this zip and replaced it with a shorter, lighter zip in the lower part of the dress. I then added buttons and loops all the way down the opening to fasten the lace part at the top and cover the zip at the bottom.

Problem solved!
